I had the pleasure of seeing Mr Koyczan perform at the student union pub, whilst drinking cheap beer, the one semester I accidentally ended up in Kelowna. He is ridiculously inspiring and this is no exception.
We grew up learning to cheer the underdog because we see ourselves in them

She’s gonna learn that this life will hit you, hard, in the face, wait for you to get back up so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air. There is hurt, here, that cannot be fixed by band-aids or poetry, so the first time she realizes that Wonder-woman isn’t coming, I’ll make sure she knows she doesn’t have to wear the cape all by herself. Because no matter how wide you stretch your fingers, your hands will always be too small to catch all the pain you want to heal. Believe me, I’ve tried.

“As long as your one of the good ones, your conscious is clear.”
It is much easier to look away and not have THAT kind of conversation. It is so difficult to stand against someone while in turn even if you don’t believe it your in action essentially becomes action. An action that continues to perpetuate myth.
Choose to make a change through action rather then in action.

I can never quite put my figer on it. However that intangible thing about poetry and spoken word is something that hits me deep in my black heart.

“‘twas in that moment, when
the sunset met her eyes
I watched my heaven and earth
collide; where in my arms love
did provide, the brightest
star of midnight skies.
I live my dreams now
everyday and love you
more than words can say,
with you there are no
yesterdays, only
tomorrows, come
what may.” -

I absolutely love poetry and spoken word and ever since I joined tumblr I have been inspired by the words of many poets. Especially the work of Gracious Words. So heres my first go at doing some spoken word. Hopefully I haven’t butchered it to badley…
